Tylenol (acetaminophen)

Signs of acetaminophen toxicity include:

  • vomiting
  • trouble breathing
  • facial swelling
  • lethargy

Cats are more susceptible to acetaminophen toxicity than dogs, as they require only a very small amount of the drug to render them ill.  Then end result of acetaminophen toxicity is liver failure.  If you suspect that your cat has ingested acetaminophen, seek veterinary assistance immediately as there is a high risk of fatality. Dogs are more tolerant of acetaminophen and generally recover from ingestion with little treatment required.  If you dog has ingested acetaminophen, INDUCE VOMITING and seek veterinary assistance for follow-up care.
