Nicotine

Signs of nicotine toxicity include:

• excitation/hyperactivity
• salivation
• vomiting
• diarrhea
• increase respiratory rate
• tremors/muscle twitching
• inability to stand
• collapse
• coma

There is a rapid onset of toxicity signs upon ingestion of nicotine.  For dogs, it is recommend to INDUCE VOMITING only if it is within 1 hour of ingestion and no signs of toxicity are present.  Seek veterinary assistance for follow-up care.  For cats, seek veterinary assistance immediately.
