Macadamia Nuts

Signs of macadamia nut toxicity include:

• vomiting
• ataxia (stumbling around)
• weakness
• hyperthermia (increase body temperature)
• depression

Dogs are the only species in which toxicities have been reported.  Result of ingestion is usually non-fatal, and resolves itself within 12 to 24 hours without treatment.  The toxic element is unknown at this time, therefore, INDUCING VOMITING is recommended.  Seek veterinary assistance for follow-up care.
