Aleve (naproxen)

Signs of toxicity include:

  • abdominal pain
  • lethargy
  • pale gum colour
  • bloody stools
  • vomiting blood
  • rarely seizures
  • coma

Naproxen ingestion causes bleeding ulcers in the stomach and small intestine.  The end result of naproxen toxicity is kidney damage or failure and/or liver damage.  If your dog has ingested naproxen, INDUCE VOMITING and seek veterinary assistance for follow-up care.  If your cat has ingested naproxen, seek veterinary assistance immediately.  Naproxen toxicity can be fatal if left untreated.
