Advil (ibuprofen)

Signs of ibuprofen toxicity include:

  • abdominal pain
  • lethargy
  • pale gum colour
  • blood in the stool
  • vomiting with blood present

Ibuprofen ingestion causes bleeding ulcers in the stomach and small intestine.  The end result of ibuprofen toxicity is kidney damage or failure and/or liver damage.  If your dog has ingested ibuprofen, INDUCE VOMITING and seek veterinary assistance for follow-up care.  If your cat has ingested ibuprofen, seek veterinary assistance immediately.  Ibuprofen toxicity can be fatal if left untreated.
