hi my cat has been in labour for over 15 hrs now and nothing happening this is her second litter is this normal or does she require a vet she took 12hrs first time round she doesnt seem distressed or meowing as if shes in pain just looks and worn out thanks
A cat that has been in labour for this long and has not delivered a kitten is definetely in trouble. Cat’s can take up to 24 hours to deliver an entire litter with ample rest breaks in between. However if no kitten has been delivered within an hour of strenuous pushing, the cat does require assistance. At this point I am sorry to say that the kittens may not be alive and she does require a c-section to deliver them. Ask the veterinarian to spay her at the same time. For more information please visit our Birthing Diffiiculties page under the Emergencies section.
hi
i just lost my jack russel (poochie),my best friend, and companion of 13 years, bfff, i am trying to find out if u or some one u know has a way to test if a rawhide i gave my girl was contaminated ,
My best advice to you is if you have more of that same rawhide, get in contact with your food inspection agency (in Canada we have the CFIA) and see if they are able to run any tests. I’m not sure that they will do this for the general public but it’s worth a shot. We as veterinary professionals do not have the capability to do a test like this unfortunately. I am sorry for the loss of your pet friend. Good luck and I hope you find some answers.

You can always try your local ASPCA or Humane Society for help for your pet if finances are an issue. You can also apply for pet financing programs at http://www.carecredit.com. They provide payment plans for pet services as most veterinary facilities will not.
